My name is Coulson Hageman and I am a senior at CCSU.
For the fall 2010 semester I am the sole student from CCSU studying abroad at Linnaeus University (formerly Växjö University) in Växjö, Sweden. I am studying history, political science and Swedish language and I am having the time of my life.
I am meeting people from all around the world, learning a great deal about different cultures and experiencing a way of life different than what I was accustomed to back in Connecticut, all while earning college credits through courses taught in English.
Apart from the strong academic benefits of being in exchange, this program has offered many opportunities for travel and for fun, courtesy of the Växjö International Students organization on campus here at Linnaeus. I have already traveled around southern Sweden and spent a weekend on Gotland, which is an island off of Sweden’s east coast, and I have plans to travel to Stockholm, Denmark and Germany, and possibly Norway, Russia, the Czech Republic and extreme northern Sweden to the Arctic Circle, where I may see the Northern Lights.
Choosing to do a semester abroad was a great decision and I would recommend it to anyone.
