With the new C.J.Huang Recreational Center finally open to the public, a new range of free fitness classes are available for Central students and faculty to take of. Here is a list of some of the classes you could take in the brand new fitness studios that are sure to help you work up a sweat.

 

Afro Dance

An African-inspired dance class.

Afro Dance Workout with Peace and Dami- Tues. 3 to 4 p.m. and Fri. 12 to 2 p.m. in the downstairs studio.

 

Barre

A ballet-inspired strength training class.

Barre with Olivia- Mon. & Wed. 9 to 10 a.m. in the downstairs studio.

Barre with Sarah- Mon. & Wed. 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the downstairs studio.

 

Bootcamp

A high-intensity weight loss class.

Bootcamp with Nina- Tues. & Thurs. 2- 2:45 p.m. in the downstairs studio.

 

Calisthenics

 Exercise focused on working large muscle groups.

Calisthenics with Jared- Mon. 7:30 to 8 p.m. in the upstairs studio.

 

Cycling

Endurance-building classes using stationary exercise bicycles.

Cycling with Jen- Mon., Tues. & Wed. 12 to 12:45 p.m. in the upstairs studio.

Cycling with Teri- Mon., Tues., Wed & Thurs. 5 to 6 p.m. in the upstairs studio.

 

HIIT

High-Intensity workouts meant to get your heart rate up.

HIIT with Sarah- Tues. & Thurs. 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the downstairs studio.

 

Pilates

Low impact flexibility exercises.

Pilates with Mary Jo- Mon. 4:15 to 5 p.m. in the downstairs studio.

 

Qi Gong

A Chinese healing technique class.

Qi Gong with Master Lei- Tues. 3 to 3:45 p.m. in the upstairs studio.

 

Self Defense

Learn how to protect yourself in dangerous situations.

Self Defense with Master Lei- Tues. and Thurs. 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. in the upstairs studio.

 

Shao Lin Kung Fu

One of the oldest and most famous forms of kung fu.

Shao Lin Kung Fu with Master Lei- Mon. 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the upstairs studio.

 

Yoga

A spiritual and physical form of exercise and meditation.

Yoga with Morgan- Tues. & Thurs. 1 to 1:45 p.m. in the downstairs studio.

 

Water Aerobics

Aerobic exercise done in shallow water.

Water Aerobics with Joe- Tues., Wed. & Thurs. 8 to 8:30 p.m. in Kaiser pool.

 

Zumba

A fitness program done through dancing.

Zumba with Mary Jo- Wed. 7:30 to 8 in the downstairs studio.
