The Big E Begins

Looking for a place to spend your evening eating unusual foods, going on carnival rides and buying from various vendors? Then The Big E is the place to go.

The Big E is an annual fair that takes place in West Springfield, Massachusetts. This year, it runs from Friday, September 13 until Sunday, September 29.

The important thing to note is that The Big E is not a Massachusetts state fair, despite taking place in Massachusetts. Rather, The Big E is a six-state fair, for each of the New England states. Vendors from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island all come out to sell food and merchandise.

As expected, there were many deep fried foods such as Oreos, cookie dough and pineapple. There were also other fair foods such as mac and cheese, burgers and caramel apples.

Vendors sold all sorts of items, from miniature models of houses to clothes to pottery.

Aside from food and merchandise, The Big E also offered a wide selection of rides. There are intense rides that will flip the riders upside down and there are also kids rides for those who aren’t tall enough or old enough to handle the bigger rides.

If you didn’t catch the Big E this past weekend, you can still attend in the next two upcoming weeks.
