The Student Government Association meets every Wednesday at 3:05 p.m. in Bellin A and B in the Student Center.
- Interim Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Peter Troiano addressed the ongoing investigation related to sexual misconduct allegations against theater Professor Joshua Perlstein when asked, suggesting that senators tell concerned students that the claim has President Dr. Zulma Toro’s “full attention” and that she’s “taking this seriously.”
- The SGA’s President Brendan Kruh stated that he was “appalled” when he read the article on Perlstein, adding that he was “very pleased with the administrative response” and that he hoped there would be no statute of limitations for students reporting sexual misconduct by a faculty member.
- Dr. Toro, Vice President for Institutional Advancement Dr. Christopher Galligan and Assistant Athletic Director for Communication and Media Services Thomas Pincince came to discuss marketing for Central Connecticut and on how to reach out to prospective students, especially to the 4,000 students who are accepted, but unconfirmed. The plan is to move more toward social media, text messages and videos that are “quick and to the point” rather than long emails, according to Pincince.
- Rabid cats have been seen around the CCSU area, with some having been actually bitten and sent to the hospital. If you see a stray animal around campus, especially one that is behaving strangely, call the Animal Control Unit of the New Britain Police Department by dialing the routine line at (860) 826-3000 or 911.
- Base budgets have not been finalized. Treasurer Christopher Cappiello said the liaisons will receive a list of how much has been allocated per club soon.
- The Student Life Committee is continuing to work on implementing plaques with campus resource information throughout campus, particularly in bathroom stalls. Quotes are still needed on how many bathroom stalls are located in residence halls, the Student Center, the Elihu Burritt Library and Kaiser Hall.
- A tailgate before this year’s Spring Concert has been planned to take place in the Student Center Circle, as Kaiser Lot will be occupied the same day with an event by the Ana Grace Project.
- More candidates will participate in the “Visions for Connecticut’s Future: A Gubernatorial Forum” event. According to the External Affairs Committee, there are now seven Democrats, four Republicans and 4 Independent candidates. The committee is attempting to get more candidates on top of that.
- The Student Affairs Committee of Faculty Senate announced that two new clubs have been recognized: the Queer and Trans People of Color Caucus and the Collegiate Health Service Board.
- The Finance Committee reported that they denied contingency requests for Dancentral for $1,900.00 and Lunar Exploration Club for $1,000.00, respectively.
- The following clubs will be audited this semester: Rotaract, Ski and Snowboard, Men’s Volleyball, Lunar Exploration, College Democrats, Women’s Lacrosse, A Cappella Society, Taekwondo/Krav Maga, Baseball, e-Sports, Japanese-American Cultural, Women’s Flag Football, Men’s Rugby, USITT, Psychology and Spanish.
- According to Vice President Marissa Cusano, a wood duck has made a home for itself in the Student Center Circle. She warned that the duck “screams” when approached, but insisted it is “very cute.” She said the duck only comes around in the morning.
