It’s still dark outside when I first wake
Sleep beckons me to return
I turn over and nestle down
Slipping back into dreamland
The alarm shrieks and is silenced
Sleep beckons me to return
Blankets bring heady warmth
And sweet rest lasts longer
A second shrieking and silencing
Sleep beckons me to return
Though it won’t come now at all
But I can curl up and pretend it will
It’s so cozy here in my bed
Sleep beckons me to return
But the fog in my brain must leave
Time to get up
