Week Seven Fantasy Picks

As more teams go through their bye weeks, Fantasy Football GMs need to be able to work the waiver wire to find potential difference makers. In Week Seven, The Recorder sports staff tells you who should be in for a big game or a big bust.

SURE THING: Golden Tate (NYG vs. ARI)

Tate returned from a suspension two weeks ago and has established himself as Daniel Jones’s top receiver with Sterling Shepard out with an injury. Tate scored over 20 fantasy points against a good Patriots defense and should keep his momentum going in an expected shootout against Arizona.

SLEEPER: Devin Singletary (BUF vs. MIA)

Singletary has been injured since Week Two but is expected to return this week and should get his fair share of touches against a poor Miami Dolphins’ defense. Singletary scored double-digit points in the first two weeks of the season and should have another good game this week in his return.

BUST: Joe Mixon (CIN RB vs. JAX)

Mixon is coming off a disappointing performance with just 10 rushing yards against the Baltimore Ravens and will face another tough defense in Jacksonville who held Alvin Kamara to only 31 rushing yards. A tough defense paired with a shaky offensive line, expect Mixon to continue to struggle.

SURE THING: Derrick Henry (RB TEN vs. LAC)

The Los Angeles Chargers did not play well against the Steelers and in particular, James Connor. In my opinion, Henry is a better running back than Connor and with the Chargers struggling to tackle opposing ball carriers, he has the chance to have a huge game as he is one of the hardest guys in the league to tackle.

SLEEPER: Julian Edelman (WR NE @ NYJ)

Edelman is only predicted to get 15 points by NFL.com, however, he is playing the New York Jets who have a defense with an inexperienced secondary, who against the Dallas Cowboys gave up a lot of penalties and yards. As Brady’s go-to guy and the only receiver who is healthy for the Patriots, he has the chance to have a huge game.

BUST: Lamar Jackson (QB BAL @ SEA)

Jackson is playing against a Seattle Seahawks team that has a good run defense, this means that Jackson will have to try and beat the Seahawks with his arm. Jackson is very much a dual-threat QB and I believe if you take away one part of his game, you have a better chance of beating the Ravens.

SURE THING: Philip Lindsey (DEN RB vs. KC)

Lindsey is going up against the Kansas City Chiefs defense, who have allowed a 100-yard runner in four straight weeks. Lindsey is coming off a strong performance against the Titans and has four touchdowns over the last four games.

SLEEPER: Michael Gallup (DAL WR vs. PHI)

Gallup is going up against a Philadelphia Eagles secondary decimated by injury. The Eagles have the league’s worst pass defense and with Amari Cooper’s health up in the air, Gallup could be in for a big game as the number one receiver for the Cowboys.

BUST: Terry McLaurin (WSH WR vs. SF)

McLaurin is facing one of the better defenses in the league through six weeks in the San Francisco 49ers. Coming off a 100-yard receiving performance against the Miami Dolphins, who were missing their top corner, McLaurin will have a tougher matchup against the 49er’s top tier pass defense which is allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points to receivers.
