CCSU Hot Spots

Sheelan Mohammed, Staff Writer

Being a freshman in school is something all of us have and will experience at least at some point in our lives.

We’ve dealt with the awkwardness, the frustration of being lost and have found it an enormous feat to find a good hang-out spot.

Whether it be taking a nap, kicking back and watching a Netflix show or doing homework, Central Connecticut has suitable choices for relaxing.

To start the year off, it would be a good choice to get familiar with the Student Center. This is the ultimate hot spot — and not just for relaxing. The Student Center contains any and all information you need to know about CCSU and being a student here. Want to join a club? Can’t find any good places to eat? Where is Sanford Hall? All of these questions and more can be answered here.

The Student Center has not only computers and chairs for doing homework or shooting a quick email, but many students can be found napping or hanging out on the sofas. It is the most comfortable area a freshman can be seen in, and Devil’s Den, one of CCSU’s dining locations, is inside of The Student Center, next to the lounging area.

However, if one needs to get away from the usual traffic and noise of the Student Center main floor, the second floor has multiple relaxing areas, tables and computers intended for student use. It is much quieter, and the Student Government Association (SGA), The Women’s Center and the club offices can be found there.

Another, more obvious location for relaxing, is the library. Equipped with Starbucks, the first floor contains wide tables for work to be done and the usual sofas. The upper level floors, in between bookshelves, are quieter than the first floor. That is where one can get done a research project, get in some nap time, and much more.

The Social Sciences Hall has a sleek-looking lounging area that is as relaxing as it is aesthetically pleasing. If you have a class in the Social Sciences Hall, try getting in a power nap or fool around on your phone until class time begins.

Other than being in a building, the outdoors is also an excellent choice for warm spring days. There is an abundant number of benches, grassy areas, and tables and chairs waiting to be used outside on campus.

Whether one prefers being inside or outside, if one likes the quiet or capable of relaxing amongst noise or prefers laying down to sitting, there is a place for everyone to relax at CCSU.
