Indie-rock trio Retribution Gospel Choir is making a stop in Milford, Conn. after playing a week’s worth of shows on what will be a three-month tour through America and eventually Europe.
Choir is playing at Daniel Street in Milford this Wednesday, and is touring in support of their new album, 2, which was be released Jan. 26 on Sub Pop records. The concert will feature opening acts by Newtown, Conn.’s post-rock trio Apse, and the indie-folk band Arms and Legs.
Choir was formed in 2007 by front man, guitarist and vocalist Alan Sparhawk of the dreamcore band Low. The band also features bass player of the band Low, Eric Pollard. Apse, who formed their band while in high school, released their second full-length album, Climb Up, in 2009.
Arms and Legs released their EP Nothing Ever Was at the beginning of 2009. The band is influenced by Death Cab for Cutie front man, Ben Gibbard’s former lo-fi side-project All-Time Quarterback, and lo-fi legend Elliot Smith.
The majority of Choir’s tour will be in America, then the band will travel through much of Europe, and end the tour back in America with a show in Col. in April. Apse and Arms and Legs are yet to announce any other tour dates for after the show.
