Central Connecticut State University graduate senior guard Belle Lanpher was named the Northeast Conference/Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 24. This is the fourth time that she has received the honor this season.
Last week, Lanpher averaged 27 points, 5.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and three steals while shooting 61.5% from beyond the arc in two wins against the Chicago State Cougars and the Stonehill Skyhawks. She helped the Blue Devils turn their win against the Saint Francis Red Flash on Feb. 15, into what is now a three-game winning streak.
Lanpher scored a game-high 19 points, added eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds in a 62-61 nail-biter against Chicago State on Thursday, Feb. 20. She followed that up with a 35-point performance against Stonehill on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Merkert Gymnasium, two points shy of the career-high 37 points that she had against Wagner on Saturday, Jan. 11. Lanpher also shot an impressive 6 of 8 from beyond the arc while grabbing three rebounds and three steals against the Skyhawks.
Lanpher does not qualify to be ranked in NEC statistical categories due to her injury earlier in the season. Despite this, she has been one of the league’s most impactful players, averaging 22.8 points, 3.5 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals in the 16 games she’s played this season.
With three games remaining until the NEC Tournament, the Blue Devils are currently tied for third place in the conference with a record of 8-5. They will try to keep their win streak alive against the Le Moyne Dolphins at Ted Grant Court on Thursday, Feb. 27. They will then head back to Detrick Gymnasium on Saturday, March. 1, where they will celebrate senior day against the Wagner Seahawks.
