For a conference-leading fifth time this season, junior guard Devin Haid of the Central Connecticut State University men’s basketball team was named Northeast Conference/Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office co-Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 10, alongside Chicago State University’s Jalen Forrest.
Haid received the honor just days after a dominant performance in an 87-66 home victory over Fairleigh Dickinson University. The win on Thursday extended the Blue Devils’ streak to six games. In that match, Haid put up a career-high 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. He also pulled down eight rebounds and picked off two steals.
It was Haid’s fifth game with 20 or more points this season and third in conference play. He currently ranks sixth in the NEC in scoring with 13.3, ninth in rebounding with 5.5 and ninth in steals with 1.5.
This latest recognition marks Haid’s fifth Player of the Week honor this season, following previous selections on Jan. 28, Dec. 23, Dec. 16, and Dec. 9. Central leads the conference with seven total Player of the Week awards this season, with senior guard Jordan Jones earning the distinction last week for his standout performances in road victories over Long Island University and Stonehill College.
Alongside Haid, senior forward Abdul Momoh was named to the NEC’s Prime Performer list for the sixth time this season. Momoh recorded his fourth double-double of the year in the win against FDU, finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. He currently leads the conference in blocks per game with 1.4 and ranks sixth in rebounding with 6.1.
Haid and Momoh will be back in action later this week when the Blue Devils take on the Mercyhurst University Lakers at home on Thursday, Feb. 13.
