Junior guard Devin Haid of the Central Connecticut State University men’s basketball team was named the Northeast Conference/Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday.
This marks the fourth time the guard has nabbed the award this season, having previously claimed it on Dec. 9, Dec. 16 and Dec. 23. He now leads the conference in player of the week recognitions.
Haid’s performance was crucial in helping the Blue Devils pick up back-to-back wins against the Le Moyne Dolphins and the Chicago State Cougars last week, improving Central’s record in conference play to 5-2 and bringing the team to within a half game of first place.
Over the course of the two games, he averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals, while shooting 75 percent from the field and three-point line.
Haid had a game-high 20 points away at Le Moyne on Friday, shooting 8-of-12 from the field, followed by another game-high 17 points at home against Chicago State on Sunday, shooting 7-of-8 from the field, grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists.
In the NEC, Haid is currently fifth in points per game (13.1), seventh in field goal percentage (.492) and eighth in rebounds per game (5.6).
Alongside Haid, senior guard Jordan Jones was included in the NEC’s Prime Performers list after averaging 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals last week.
Haid and Jones will look to continue their hot streaks when the Blue Devils hit the road to take on the Long Island University Sharks on Thursday in a clash that features the conference’s top two teams.
