With the opening of Fresh Greens and Proteins, there has been a new addition to the off-campus dining options.
The new restaurant’s slogan is “What healthy looks like.” Specializing in smoothies, salads and bowls, FGP brings its slogan to life.
“It’s definitely nice to have a healthier option that’s walking distance from campus,” Destiny Chandler, a CCSU student, said about the diversity that Fresh Greens and Proteins brings to the local dining scene.
There are dozens of smoothie options, including the “create your own” feature. From Vanilla Chia Chai, Pecan Pie and Cinnabun, to Energy, Restore and Detox smoothies.
Food options vary from Burrito Bowls to Tuna Delight wraps. They also offer customizable fruit bowls with açaí, chia pudding, or yogurt bases and over a dozen topping options from various fruits to Nutella and bee pollen.
With a perfect five-star rating among 14 Google reviews, Fresh Greens and Proteins has been off to a successful start with positive ratings about the atmosphere, cleanliness, employees and freshness of the food.
According to a response from the owner on a Google review, “the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Fresh Greens and Proteins is located at the bottom of the plaza across from Willard-DiLoretto Hall joining Dunkin’, Subway, Domino’s, Wing It On! and Tony’s Pizza.
The smoothie and salad shop offers a break from fast food, takeout and pizza that borders the campus.
With locations in Watertown and Hamden, this is the third Fresh Greens and Proteins storefront in the state.
Fresh Greens and Proteins offers dine-in or take-out options, it also allows for mobile orders to be placed for pick-up or delivery. It is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. FGP is closed on Sundays.
