The soothing sounds of soft jazz filled Semesters at Central Connecticut State University during a drink mixing event at last week’s Devil’s Den at 10 on Thursday, Feb. 29.
Hosted by the Arts & Crafts Club, the Craft & Sip event offered students the opportunity to spend their night drinking mocktails and doing arts and crafts. The drinks, which were provided by Sodexo, included sangria, mojitos and margaritas. They were a big hit during the event, as the drinks quickly ran out. Various snacks were also offered, including chips, cookies and cheese platters.
Alongside the drinks and food, various art supplies were available for people to use, including paper, pencils and markers. Many people in attendance took the opportunity to make crafts with their friends as they enjoyed their drinks.
There were also a few stations to do more specific crafts. One of which was a picture frame decoration station. Attendees received a wooden picture frame to decorate how they pleased with stickers, buttons and more. This station was very popular, with many people taking part and creating their own custom picture frames.
Knitting and crocheting stations were also present, where Arts & Crafts Club members taught anyone interested how to knit and/or crochet. A large variety of yarn was available for practice and both stations were popular and patronized.
The event’s environment was enjoyable and relaxing. Sitting in Semesters with a tasty virgin beverage and doing a fun craft either by yourself or with friends was an excellent way for the students attending to spend the night.
Ariel Pinchover said that she found the event and the drinks to be a lot of fun. Pinchover said that the event was a fun way to spend her night and learn how to knit.
“I really like going to Devil’s Den at 10 because it’s a good way to end the week and do things on a Thursday,” Pinchover said. “This was very relaxing.”
President of the Arts & Crafts Club and host of the event, Elnora Amenta, said that the event was a big success for a club that has little in terms of budget, members or time. She said this event provided a fun way for people to do arts and crafts and learn new skills.
“I really like teaching people to knit,” Amenta said. “I’m glad that a lot of people wanted to learn how to knit and crochet through this event.”
