Ringing In The New Year With Ke$ha
January 26, 2019
Some people stay home on New Years Eve, some go out to bars to party, but me? I went and saw Kesha at Mohegan Sun.
Now this show came as a surprise to me, I had not heard any press about it and I soon came to find out why: it was not a tour show. It was just one specific show that happened to be on New Years Eve.
Either way, Kesha is everything that encompasses nostalgia to me and I was not about to pass up an opportunity to see her.
Once I arrived at the casino, I could tell this was not just any other day; it was packed. But that is to be expected on such a “party” holiday. Now since this show did not have the prestige of being part of a tour line up there was no set opener; it would just be Miss Kesha Rose herself.
So it was a nice touch when I finally made it to my seat that a DJ was playing music while we waited. Most of his mixes were enjoyable, but he tried so hard to get the crowd involved — when most people had not made it inside yet. It was not the worst crowd reaction I have seen, but it definitely was not one of the best.
However, all of that faded away when Kesha came on stage. She opened the show up with her song “Woman” (off her latest album Rainbow).
It is an empowerment song and it definitely got the crowd going. She continued playing hits like “Blah Blah Blah,” “Timber” and “Blow.”
During the concert, she renewed the vows of her friend’s parents. As it turns out, she’s licensed to do that — now that is something I did not know about her.
After a brief time off stage she came back and preformed, arguably, two of her most popular songs: “Praying” and “Tik Tok.” Those are two songs even non-fans of her know so the entire arena was filled with a chorus of voices up until she took her final bow of the night and exited the stage.
Sad you missed out on the event? Fear not, Kesha is not taking a break just yet. From February 17 to 21 she is allowing fans to join her for four nights on her “My Weird & Wonderful Rainbow Ride.” This cruise ship will set sail from Tampa, Florida and travel to Nassau, Bahamas. While aboard passengers can see Kesha perform in two different shows and concerts, watch the performances from drag queens and the DJ. Kesha is also hosting a lip sync battle so be prepared to wow the queen.
But wait, there’s more.
It would not be a Kesha experience without a dance party with fellow fans, so of course that is on the itinerary too. And trips are much more fun with friends so Kesha is bringing some along. Guests will also be treated to the likes of Girl Talk, Betty Who, Superfruit and a few others. To get tickets you can go to www.keshasrainbowcruise.com.
