Paul Manafort Could Face “Possible Discipline” In Connecticut:
Former presidential campaign chairman and New Britain native Paul Manafort could face “possible discipline” as a “Connecticut attorney” after pleading guilty to criminal counts, the Hartford Courant reported.
The Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel, the Courant said, is filing court papers and requesting a hearing with Manafort due to the idea that he “has been guilty of misconduct.” He recently came under indictment as a result “related” to his work as an international consultant in Ukraine.
Though a date may not be set for a hearing in Hartford, the Courant said that Manafort “could be suspended from the practice of law or eventually disbarred.”
Last year, a separate complaint that aimed to revoke Manafort’s law license in the state was filed.
Former President George H.W. Bush Dead At 94:
The 41st President of the United States, George Herbert Walker Bush, died Friday at his home in Houston, Texas surrounded by family.
Former Secretary of State James A. Baker III said that, over the last week, Bush had spent most of his time “sleeping, not eating and rarely getting out of bed.”
Bush’s adult life was dedicated to politics, becoming a congressman, ambassador to the United Nations, chairman of the Republican National Committee and director of the Central Intelligence Agency. He was then a two-term vice president and successor to former President Ronald Reagan.
The ceremony, which involved both the House and the Senate, was held Monday at the United States Capitol. A memorial service will also take place Wednesday morning at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. A second memorial service for Bush will be held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church on Thursday.
President Donald Trump declared Wednesday a national day of mourning.
Bush will be laid to rest, alongside his wife Barbara and daughter Robin, at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas.
Scientists Continue To Warn Of Climate Change:
Four former presidents of the United Nations-sponsored talks in Poland after four senior figures “behind efforts to limit climate change” warned that earth is “at a crossroads,” BBC News reported.
BBC said that the meeting marked the most critical move regarding climate change since the 2015 Paris agreement.
In order for plans to be reached that were agreed on in Paris, scientists said that greenhouse gas emissions will need to be drastically cut down to 45 percent in just over a decade.
The UN also warned that any delay on the climate change will only make it “harder” and “more expensive.”
