After watching the precise Peyton Manning use his plethora of weapons to tear apart my beloved New York Jets and their supposed number one defense, I can’t help but feel compelled to give them the edge against the Saints.
The discussion over whether Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney will play and be effective is important enough to take into account, but I think it will only make the Colts victory closer. No Freeney or a hampered Freeney will put more pressure on the rest of the defense, but it’s a pressure they should be able to handle.
In what should be a shootout of a Super Bowl, I wouldn’t be surprised to see both Manning and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees lighting up the scoreboard via the air attack. While both the Colts and the Saints feature skilled backs, we live in a pass heavy climate as far as the NFL goes and the ultimate game should come down to who can air it out the most while making fewer mistakes.
Take it from a Jets fan that drank the Rex Ryan Kool-Aid, the experienced Colts have enough on both sides of the ball to get it done.

Why: Did anyone see that NFC Championship? How can you lose the Super Bowl after winning a thriller like that? The best offense in the league, as well as a defense that can be sketchy, but makes plays when they have to; the Saints are primed for a victory.
The Colts are no pushover, and the reigning MVP Peyton Manning should be tough, to say the least. But can he win a shootout against the team that seems to have made it an art form? This could be one of the best shootouts in Super Bowl history, but the Colts have a severe disadvantage here.
This game should go back and forth, but at some point, expect Saints kicker Garrett Hartley to have to make at least one of his most important kicks of his life. Archie, you are going to be disappointed you didn’t cheer for the team you have been around for 39 years in place of supporting your son. Not that anyone can blame you, except for the entire state of Louisiana and every Saints fan in America. The Saints will pull this game out.

One reason to why the Colts are going to walk away the 2010 Super Bowl Champions: Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning. With Manning’s quick release and poise on the field, it isn’t hard to see why he’s already being called one of the greatest, if not the greatest quarterback of all time. Manning is a class act who has proven that he doesn’t buckle under pressure, even when things aren’t going the Colts’ way he finds a way for them to win. The combination of Manning to Reggie Wayne or breakthrough player Pierre Garcon is something that is going to be hard matched for the Saints defense on Sunday. On top of everything else the Colts have 25 players returning for their second Super Bowl, allowing them to push past all of the distractions and focus on what’s important…the win.
I’m not saying Brees and the Saints haven’t proven to be Super Bowl worthy, in fact the Super Bowl finally has the two best teams vying for the top spot. And while I route for a NFC team, I can’t deny the talent found amongst the Colts organization, which is why I have to go for the AFC and take the Colts for the win.

With the “WHO DAT” controversy fueling the Saints fire for the past week, it gives them even more reason to give Indianapolis a run for their money. Dwight Freeney’s injury is also great news for the Saints and will allow the very talented and underrated Saints’ running backs to get to the edge easier and break big runs. It will also allow Drew Brees more time and the pocket, if he even needed any at all. Unless the Colts’ running game can break out with a Walter Payton-like performance, the Saints should be OK with Peyton Manning’s “hypermnesia.”
It’s also hard to not feel for this team. The city NEEDS a Super Bowl, as most parts of the city are still not rebuilt from Hurricane Katrina six years ago. So, come Sunday night, wear your black and gold, and sport your “WHO DAT” chants loudly to support Drew Brees and company.

It’s really simple on why the Colts will win the Super Bowl. Two words, well, one name: Peyton Manning.
It is definitely going to be a scoring affair, but I think the leadership and poise of Manning will overcome the Saints as they will capture their 2nd title since 2006. Even though the Saints will be the team I feel that most of America will be rooting for, I just feel that the Colts have to much to offer.
Manning is arguably the best quarterback to play in the NFL. Even though he doesn’t have his go to in Marvin Harrison, yet uses another other weapon like Pierre Garcon to go deep. It’s finally a 1 vs. 1 and even thought both teams can score at will, I think Colts will prevail just because they have been the team to beat all year and have been here before.
They were bound for an undefeated season while most experts rode them out because of a new head coach. However with the leadership Manning gives, the Colts take home the hardware.
