Wallingford’s Wood-n-Tap is the ideal restaurant for any occasion. The establishment is equipped with both bar and restaurant-style seating – a perfect go-to if you’re with the family or just a few friends.
Within the bar section, several flat screen televisions are placed throughout that play various sports and news channels–an excellent area for either a night out with the girls or a night out with the guys. Their ‘Tappy Hour’, typically known as Happy Hour everywhere else, is from 4pm to 7pm, Monday through Saturday. This is convenient for those holding a 9-5 job; there is no need to rush out of work in order to get your hands on a low-priced, well-flavored drink before heading home.
In the restaurant’s seating area, there is lighting low enough to create a relaxed mood but not too dim to where you cannot see. There is booth seating and table seating able to fit various party sizes. They only accept reservations for parties of six or more, but for any other size party the wait times are never unreasonable. There are always plenty of waiters and waitresses that keep the service flowing in a timely manner, and continuously tend to even their neediest and most time consuming customers.
The Wood-n-Tap is best known for their burgers and steaks. With every meal the customer has a choice of either house or caesar salad. Many rave over the caesar salad due to its house made dressing and freshly sliced Parmesan cheese that lies atop the crunchy crotons.
The service always remains consistent. When arriving, there is a greeter, who holds the door open, then a hostess who takes down the party’s name and then either gives the estimated time until seating, or proceeds to walk the party to an empty table or booth.
The waiters and waitresses are polite and respectful and check up throughout the meal to see if they can do anything to help make the experience just that much better. You will not be left waiting for a water refill while your in the middle of an extra hot meal.
When the bill comes, there is an option to sign up for their rewards program. Signing up is free and you start earning rewards immediately. Every dollar spent is translated into one point and for every 250 points, $10 is rewarded. In addition, E-mail alerts are occasionally sent out; these contain exclusive offers along with birthday and anniversary surprises.
The overall experience is quite enjoyable. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. The Wood-n-Tap is a great place for many occasions and with multiple locations throughout the state – you’re a fool not to give them a chance.
